Yachts Order for OYS
Having previously delivered the bow thruster for Christensen Yachts’ Odessa, Ocean Yacht Systems have recently been awarded supply of the bow and stern thruster units for Christensen Yachts’ next project, the 160 foot Remember When.
The order will see Christensen Yachts take supply of a 100 HP electrical BTME-24-F fixed tunnel bow thruster and a 100 HP hydraulic BTMH-24-RR vertical rectracting and rotating stern thruster, including control systems and panels.
Commenting on the order,
OYS Thrusters Director, Ian Crowden said:
“Having previously fitted a fairly straightforward bow thruster to Hull 34, this new project will provide OYS with a technically challenging test of meeting very high performance and durability expectations, whilst working to limited access constraints for locating the thrusters. However, such challenges only serve to underline our growing reputation as the market leader of high quality bespoke thrusters, offering our client's a choice of a fully customised solution to meet their exact needs, as opposed to a choice of fixed models from a catalogue.”
OYS Swing Thrusters have a low profile
and compact design, enabling them to be
installed conveniently in low level lockers
or under beds. Once retracted these systems
leave a fair hull with minimal drag.
Apart from the castings and gears, in
nearly all cases, OYS Thrusters are built
to Lloyds or ABS Classification and designed,
manufactured and assembled on site with
a focus on UK sourced components for built
in reliability and easier servicing.
