Rim Driven Thrusters
The RDE (Rim Driven Electric) thruster developed by TSL Technology and tested extensively with Southampton University, is now available as a superyacht product through OYS’s application expertise.
This ultra quiet, highly efficient thruster is probably the most advanced and reliable thruster available today. The thruster integrates the electric motor into the duct around the propeller, resulting in quiet, powerful thrust, from a high-torque motor offering fully symmetric thrust.
As well as a super efficient thruster for manoeuvring, this thruster if deployed with an additional 90 degree rotation option from OYS, can also be used for emergency propulsion as well as an in-water generator to recover energy back to the vessel’s electrical system.
